CognoBlue MOD theme selector

This is a mod version of the CognoBlue WordPress Theme By Blogsdna.

I’ve just changed some tiny stuff here and there to fit my taste. As I previously wrote [ITA] I decided to edit this particular theme because of some top-class prerogatives:

  • It’s light and fast
  • It’s smart and easy-going for the eyes as well
  • It focuses the reader’s attention on the content, not on the theme itself

Ok, it is not as terrific and wonderful as some other themes on the wordpress page, but I think it’s good, and just works, it’s widget ready and the CSS is clean and well organized!

So, before letting you download the archive, let’s see the differences between CognoBlueMOD theme and the original one.

First of all…

What does CognoBlue look like? Here’s a screenshot1 of the original theme:

And now the changes!

Let’s start from the background: the plain grey blackground background has been removed and now a light-blue gradient, obtained by a horizontally-repeated gif of just 12.3kb!

Of course – as long as the theme is GPL licensed – you can set it to “fixed” in the body section of the CSS if you prefer: what you’ll get is a fixed gradient background instead of a light-blue one.

But I think the blue get along well with…

…The orange header of the title…

Well, this is just another gradient (png) from yellow to orange (this is why I kept the white font).

…and the blue top bar…

Ok, is anyone thinking I like gradients? =)

Yes I do, and here it is a smaller one on the header bar!

Another thing I did was to highlight the Home page (ok, there was already a link on the title, of course!) but as long as we all have it in the header, let’s show it! :) How?! By adding a couple of dots at its borders.

Least but not last

As I told this theme is *not* mine, but I’ve just made some mod on a great simple theme. The credits of the original code are still at the bottom of it.

It is not yet a stable version (this is just because I haven’t tested it enough to say that works). I called it 0.9rc1, so I can still modify it without the risk of spreading around a so-called stable version.
